Sustainability

Trade That Leaves the Land Better Than We Found It.

Tranzaf believes that durable commercial relationships and responsible sourcing are inseparable. Our sustainability commitments run from the farm gate to the final port of discharge.

Our Commitment

Why Sustainability Is Core to Our Business

Agricultural commodities trading sits at the intersection of global food security, rural livelihoods, and environmental stewardship. We take that responsibility seriously — not as a compliance exercise, but as a commercial imperative. Buyers increasingly demand traceable, responsibly sourced supply. Farmers need fair, reliable trading partners to invest in their land. We are building a business that serves both.

Investing in the People Who Grow Our Commodities

The majority of the commodities we trade originate from smallholder farmers and cooperatives across Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. We work directly with these communities — providing market access, fair pricing, and long-term purchase commitments that allow farmers to plan, invest, and grow.

  • Multi-year offtake agreements that give farmers planning certainty
  • Direct sourcing that eliminates unnecessary intermediaries and improves farmer margins
  • Technical assistance partnerships with local cooperatives on post-harvest handling and quality
  • Prompt payment terms — we do not use our scale to delay payments to small suppliers

Environmental Responsibility

Reducing Our Footprint Across the Supply Chain

We recognise that agricultural supply chains carry significant environmental impact — from land use and water consumption at origin to shipping emissions in transit. We are actively working to measure, reduce, and offset our contribution across each stage.

  • Preference for suppliers with verified sustainable land management practices
  • No sourcing from suppliers linked to primary deforestation — enforced through due diligence
  • Cargo consolidation and route optimisation to reduce per-tonne shipping emissions
  • Working towards Scope 3 emissions measurement across our traded volumes

Supply Chain Transparency

Full Traceability From Field to Port

Our buyers have a right to know where their commodities come from. We provide full documentation chains — from origin certificates and phytosanitary reports to quality analysis and shipping records — for every cargo we trade. Transparency is not optional; it is part of our service.

  • Country and region of origin documented for every shipment
  • Third-party quality inspection at load port (SGS, Bureau Veritas, or equivalent)
  • Phytosanitary and fumigation certificates provided as standard
  • Cooperative and exporter-level sourcing records available on request for key accounts
Our Commitments

What We Hold Ourselves To

No Child or Forced Labour

Zero tolerance across our supply chain. We conduct due diligence on all origin suppliers and terminate relationships where violations are identified.

Fair Pricing at Origin

We pay prices that reflect quality and market conditions — not prices that exploit information asymmetry or farmer desperation.

Deforestation-Free Sourcing

We do not knowingly source from land cleared after 2015. Supplier declarations and satellite monitoring are part of our onboarding process.

Community Investment

A portion of our margin on origin-direct trades is reinvested into community infrastructure projects in partnership with local cooperatives.

Continuous Improvement

We publish an annual sustainability update to our key counterparties, tracking progress against our commitments and setting new targets.

Responsible Financing

We do not use pre-finance arrangements that create debt dependency for smallholder suppliers. Our financing terms are transparent and fair.
